The back is carved from a two piece of quarter cut curly maple with flames rising towards the edges.The side and scroll are of maples with well figured and lively flamesThe top is of two piece spruce of irregular grains.The varnish is an orange brown in colour. This outstanding JB Vuillaume violin has a radiant appearance and a large, resonant, mature sound which is sophisticated, radiant and mature in character.
