Description

August Edwin Prager (1875-1956) learned the artisanry of bow making from his father Friedrich Wilhelm. After his apprenticeship he worked in the renowned shop of Ludwig Bausch in Leipzig. At the turn of the century he started to work for himself in Schönlind. 1930 he moved to Markneukirchen, where this nice violin bow was crafted. Its octagonal shaft is stiff and features a light brown color. This bow (57.3g) is pretty light and almost without any sensible balance-point. Its head is shaped precisely and demonstrates Prager´s experience and skills. The ebony frog is distinctively designed, the slide and the Parisian eye are made of white mother of pearl. This excellent violin bow to produce a bright, shining and open sound.
