Description

Joseph Viorin is the younger brother of the more famous François Nicolas Viorin. Joseph Voirin probably learned bowmaking like his brother, with Jean Simon. They eventually moved to Paris in 1855. In 1867, he ran the Gautrot workshop in Château-Thierry where he invited Alfred Lamy, who assisted him for a few years. Although eclipsed by his sort after brother, Joseph Viorin has good hands and was making fine bows
This specimen is beautiful specimen of a fine French maker made around 1890. The round stick is made with strong brown pernambuco stick. The frog is ebony and silver mounted with Parisian eyes. The button is made with 3 part silver button.
