Description
Giovanni Dollenz had a son,Giuseppe(1832-1892) who continued the violin making activity of the father, repeating in his instruments the paternal stylistic patterns, Although his work is more refined.particularly in the scroll sculpture, the ff holes and the confluence, which is flatter. He used a varnish that is less transparent than of the father who, generally speaking, shows a more developed artistic sensibility. However, the work of both the father and son is interesting and noteworthy, meriting the appreciation of violin making experts. This violin undamaged in very good condition, immediately ready to play; it was thoroughly worked over by our luthiers. Its strong sound is dark, warm and full of character, brighter and singing in the upper ranges and with convincing power.
